Almir Šurković

The hammer ‘Monument’ is a gigantic copy of the classic hammer, installed in the pedestrian zone of central Sarajevo. Why? It is absolutely opposite to what is considered to be the monument in societies burdened with ideology. In its basic idea it contains elements and attributes of civilization constructiveness and progress, as well as of its destructiveness and regress; its beginning and its end. It (the hammer) is the symbolic cause of every construction, deconstruction and destruction. I consider Sarajevo to be an ideal place for such a monument.
