Dario Pehar

My project for an artwork in space is a monument to the fallen monument, dedicated to the memory of all fallen monuments in the territory of former Yugoslavia. It is my answer to destructive thinking and acting that has been continuously obstructing us for decades now in developing into a democratic and civilized society. I am trying to show, in a humorous way, how pointless it is to destroy monuments, since, regardless of whom and what they represent, each monument is the product of artistic work and creativity; it is in the same time the witness of the history that cannot be erased. Although my project contains a human figure broken in halves, I tried not to have a morbid final result. An elegant red arch reminds of the monument of zero category – the Old Bridge of Mostar.
