Lejla Hodžić “So close, and yet so far”

Summer Garden Ćulhan (Sarajevo)
August 25-30, 1997

People come to cafés, summer gardens and other meeting places to be with others, and at the same time, alone. The idea of the work is to point out paradoxical relation of private and public: tables are separated from one another by transparent partitions, through which silhouetted people at neighboring tables are dimly seen. People are far from each other, even when physically close.
