Danica Dakić “Wall”

Obala Meeting Point (Sarajevo)
August 22 – September 20, 1998

The idea of the work points to the relation: architecture-body-video, intimate-public and intelligible-unintelligible. By installing a “living wall” in a defined architectural context, the video is treated as a communicating speaking wall. The video is composed of recordings of the mouths of 4 persons of different ages, who speak in different languages from three to four minutes. The recording, made in a studio and with a static camera with flat lighting, are edited into a collage, like bricks in a wall, or like a patchwork individual “stories”. The sound oscillates between murmur of many voices and singling out of the individual sentence.
