Aaron Levy
Public Room (Sarajevo)
June 26, 2013
Visit and presentation of Aaron Levy, Director of the Slought Foundation (Philadelphia, USA)
A profound breakdown in social trust between publics, between institutions, and between both publics and institutions is one of the defining hallmarks of our time. What role do artists and cultural communities play in mitigating, and at times exacerbating, this crisis? Our work at Slought responds to this crisis by aspiring to build relationships across these uncertainties and suspicions. Difficult as it is to maintain conversations about co-existence, as artists and curators, it is imperative that we re-imagine our methods and continually expand what is possible. Despite a severe lack of access to capital, this sensibility has enabled Slought and our collaborators to survive and flourish over these past ten years.
The event is organized by the SCCA (Sarajevo Center for Contemporary Art) in cooperation with the Public ROOM Sarajevo.
